You couldn’t help catching the Christmas spirit as you entered Nancy Nevius’ festively decorated home this past December 12 when she hosted the New Life Church Ladies’ Lunch Bunch. The ladies enjoyed snowmen, angels, Santa and a unique Kangaroo Nativity. As always we had myriad casseroles, salads and desserts to thrill every palate.

Jois Ross, director, teamed-up with Ruth Klein and Peggy Zilinsky to bring us another inspiring program, this time our Christmas program. We look forward to this program, which gives us the chance to sing beloved carols and songs, to hear the Scriptures from which they originated, and also to be reminded of the extravagant love of God for everyone. Jois, Ruth and Peggy recounted interesting stories regarding the effect of some carols on lives through history and the uncanny way God caused the carols to be written. Each of us had our own songbook, handmade individually by Leslie Brooks, which we followed throughout the program.

Nancy Thomas allowed us a wonderful illustration of how a song is inspired by Scripture as she powerfully read Psalm 8 while Judy Fairchild played beloved favorite How Great Thou Art.

Pat File, Karen Wesselmann and Sherry Zeise blessed the ladies by singing a trio of the increasingly popular Mary, Did You Know? accompanied on the keyboard by Judy Fairchild and on acoustic guitar by Jeff Fairchild.

Jois ended the program by having the ladies sing O, Holy Night. They sang with such feeling that many were brought to tears. Each one left with a new realization of Christmas’ comfort and joy.
