Democratic Club makes Denton “litter” bit better

Keep Denton Beautiful (KDB) – Adopt a Spot Program is one of the largest programs of its kind in Texas. For nearly three decades, KDB has partnered with Denton neighborhoods, businesses and community groups to achieve the vision of a clean, beautiful and vibrant city and Robson Ranch Democratic Club is proud to be an active member. As volunteers, we are responsible for picking up litter at least four times per year along a two mile stretch of road on Robson Ranch Road for a period of two years.

Starting at 7:00 a.m. on a recent summer morning, RR Democratic Club, in two-person teams, donned gloves, pocketed several large plastic trash bags and headed out to the roadway in search of trash and recyclables.

There’s a lot of trash out there. Eleven bags of trash and four bags of recyclables were collected over a two-hour period. The last team in, Dave Ayers and Scott Baker, arrived around 9:00 a.m. with four bags crammed full! And the most unusual items found (besides those unmentionables) were a Batman mouse toy, computer hard drive and wire cutters.

The city of Denton works hard to keep our streets and right-of-ways clear of trash and pollutants. Yet litter and waste still find their way onto our roadways. RR Democratic Club takes pride in knowing we are working together in making a difference in the environment by keeping our city clean and beautiful.
