Wow! Spring is really here. Summer seems to be following quickly. But this is my favorite time of year. Everything is new and fresh with exciting colors exploding all around us.

How can we incorporate these colors into our décor? Let’s start with the patio. Incorporate fabrics with all the spring colors in your chair cushions and table linens. Throw a lively rug on the floor to add a backdrop for your furniture.

Choose festive outdoor place settings for your summer lunches and dinners.

Interesting pottery filled with all sorts of colorful plants is another way to bring color to areas of your patio. Southern Living suggests a three-part rule for pottery/container planting. First, start with a “thriller” such as daylilies or daises. Add “fillers” such as salvias and finish with a “spiller” such as sweet potato vines. Situate your flower filled containers around the patio and enjoy the beauty.

Move around to the entry and add a welcoming wreath to your front door filled with greenery and flowers. A vase situated to either side of the doorway filled with ferns is an inviting way to greet your guests.

Flowering beds give curb appeal to every yard. Fill them with begonia, camellia, dahlia, daisy, geraniums, hibiscus, hosta, impatiens and lantana are a few suggestions for your beds.

Whew! I didn’t even get inside the house. But you get the idea. Bring some of this color into your home with cut flowers in beautiful crystal vases. This will bring beautiful color as well as wonderful scents to your decor.

Enjoy the spring and all it has to offer.
