Feast for the heart

The day before Mother’s Day, New Life Church Ladies’ Lunch Bunch gathered for our annual Mother/Daughter Luncheon once more at the Sidewalk Café at Unicorn Lake. Gracious and generous owners Sam and Susi Pyeatt welcomed us like special family members and laid out an awesome buffet with abundant green salad with special dressings, their unique chicken salad on a lettuce leaf and delicious smoked turkey sandwiches. Brownies, lemon bars and wedding cookies were the perfect dessert. Our servers, Sarah and Morgan, saw to it that we lacked nothing.
There were mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, sisters and good friends enjoying the special attention. It was a pleasure to meet other ladies’ family or guests; sharing good memories together during the meal.
Our creative and special director, Jois Ross and her excellent team members, Nancy Thomas, Peggy Zilinsky, Nancy Nevius and Ruth Klein, opened our program with encouraging words regarding motherhood. They shared the joys as well as the awesome challenges all mothers face daily, seeking to raise children who make the world a better place, children who love and follow God. There were testimonies given of godly mothers who lived a great example, of others who weren’t actually someone’s mother, but made a life-changing impact on that person, and of some who did not have a godly home, but have established one for their own children.
We all enjoyed funny stories, games and prizes as Nancy Nevius and the team had us scrambling to follow directions so we could win. They let loose giggles and guffaws as we played. The ladies in attendance that day “left” with fond memories and joy as they walked “right” out the door.
“A Mother is she who can
take the place of
ALL OTHERS,
but whose place
NO ONE ELSE
can take.”
