“Hand It” to the Wine Knots

Joan Newcomer

14 Hands, that is. It was a “Night of Favorites” for the Wine Knots at the home of Tom and Kathy Zumann. First Tom presented us with his favorite wine from the 14 Hands Winery called Hot to Trot. Tom shared that the 14 Hands Winery is in an area of Eastern Washington State where wild mustangs, averaging 14 hands in height, used to roam; hence the name. This red blend has overtones of cherries, ripe berries and plums and was enjoyed by all.

Kathy introduced us to her favorite, a chardonnay by Clos du Bois. This Sonoma wine has intense aromas of fruit and is complemented by flavors of toasty oak. It has a silky texture with a long refreshing finish.

The appetizers were delicious, and the company even better. The beautiful evening lent itself to sitting under the stars on the patio while visiting, sipping and snacking. When the Wine Knots play favorites, everybody wins!
