The third HOA Trivia Night for 2015 was a huge success. We had 19 playing teams and 29 spectators; all those who attended had a great time. Teams had eight members, which either helped or hindered with getting the answers. I keep saying it’s always best to go with your gut, but teams still talk themselves out of the right answer. We have several returning teams each time, but a lot of new teams who really jump into the competition. As a bonus, Doug Boggs from DM Global Realty in Fort Worth sponsored the event. Doug treated the attendees with cookies and door prizes to restaurants, shopping establishments and Starbucks, my favorite.

Althea Parent was the MC for the night and Doug was her assistant, helping by being the time keeper and providing the music. The new music had been added to Althea’s tablet by her husband was the kind of music Robson Ranch likes to hear—even a little dancing going on between questions.

We played six rounds which were made up of three questions each, and teams would bet points on their answers. The halftime question had five answers, and teams received one point for each correct answer. The final question was worth 20 points, and teams could bet a minimum of one point or all 20 points. It always comes down to the final question; some got part of the answer right but lost without having the other part correct. There was a tie for third place so a tiebreaker question was asked, and the tie was broken within two minutes!

The categories vary each time. Here are a few of the questions from the August Trivia. Answers are at the bottom.

1. Sports: He was known the world over as “Mr. Cub.” Who?

2. Transportation: Citizens of what country rely on bicycles the most?

3. Victory Celebrations: This man received the first and only New York City ticker-tape parade ever given to a classical musician—full name.

4. Halftime question: Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd have starred together in what five movies?

Eight team members working together as one—no use of cell phones, no call a friend! With each of the Trivia nights there is a bit more of Robson Ranch competition going on, which is fun to observe.

Congratulations to the winning teams! Each of the winning team members received Wildhorse Grill gift certificates.
