The HOA Living Well Committee presented a seminar on August 5 via Zoom featuring a Medicare update and information session. Anne Fox, a member of the Speaker Series Committee, introduced the guest speaker, Sabina Rahman-Garcia, from Benefit Concepts. She provided an overview of Medicare, covering facts about Medicare, Medicare options, costs, important dates, and more. Sabina went on to explain the four parts of Medicare: Part A – which helps to cover hospital costs, skilled nursing, home health, and rehabilitation; Part B – which helps to cover doctor visits, preventative services, lab services, diagnostic tests, outpatient care, and occupational/physical/speech therapies; Part C – which helps to cover everything that Medicare Part A & B cover, and covers additional services, like dental, vision, and wellness; and Part D – which helps to cover prescription drugs. Types of Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare Supplement plans were also explained at the seminar. The entire seminar was videotaped and can be seen by going to the RR Living Well Committee website at rrlwc.com. Additional contacts and information are in the video.

In October, the Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension will present a seminar on Good Nutrition and Cognition here at Robson Ranch. The guest speaker will be Dr. Jenna Anding, a professor and extension specialist at the Texas A&M campus, College Station. The session will feature the latest research on diet and cognition. We will also learn how to make simple changes in our diets that will promote brain health and well-being. Also being discussed at this presentation by Zach Davis is information about GMOs/organic vs. nonorganic foods. More information on this seminar will be available on our website at www.rrlwc.com.
