You have just been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and your doctor has prescribed a plan of action. Where do you go? In Denton, you should seek out the tremendous staff at Denton’s Presbyterian Hospital. At the Diabetes Chronic Care Clinic, there are RN’s and dedicated staff to gather medical history, provide educational programs for both the patient and the entire family, create meal plans, arrange for glucometers and testing supplies and, sometimes, even provide insulin. Interesting fact: Insulin does not require a prescription and an individual can go to Walmart and purchase a month’s supply for under $30 and drop it off at the clinic.

Patients at the “Caring Clinic” (as they like to call themselves), are often uninsured and low income. There is a gap between the patient’s basic needs up until they are enrolled in an appropriate assistance program. To cover this gap, the clinic relies on charitable grants and donations.

The Wildhorse Lady Niners have raised nearly $10,000 over the past three years to support the Caring Clinic. We used to hold a fundraiser in conjunction with our Princess Tournament, but this year, we have decided to hold a Charity Tournament open to both men and women dedicated to raising money for the clinic.

Save the date. Please plan to put a team together and play in the 9-hole tournament on October 8, so that you can be part of this generous effort.
