Why not celebrate with the Wine Knots

Diane and Barry Williams celebrating the season with good food, good wine and greater friends

Diane and Barry Williams celebrating the season with good food, good wine and greater friends

On a warm, sultry December night, the Wine Knots jingled on over to the beautiful home of Diane and Barry Williams. The setting was perfect to celebrate the Christmas season and toast the group that has become a “knot” of friendship over the last four months.

We started the evening with a lovely wine tasting from Texas Star Winery. Diane discovered this small Texas gem in Chappell Hill, Texas while on the recent “Painted Churches Tour.” We began with their tart Cranberry Wine, which was perfect for the season. Interestingly the winery suggests either drinking the Cranberry Wine by itself or mixing it with other wines. They recommend mixing it with their Chappell Hill Starlight White Wine or their 17k Cherie Wine. After the Cranberry Wine we taste tested the mixed wines as well. It was decided we needed to place a group order for a case of the Cranberry Wine!

The gift exchange was punctuated with much laughter. Each couple brought a wine related gift. Some were more easily identified than others, but all were appreciated and will be put to good use.

The appetizers were exceptional and provided a full meal as everyone was anxious to enrich the holiday atmosphere. The evening was topped off with a Champagne toast and Diane’s homemade bread pudding for dessert. It was a joyful time of friendship and the perfect ending to the 2015 gatherings of the Wine Knots. Now…on to 2016!
