Oh, What a Night for Girls on Wheels

Girls on Wheels ready for a little hoppin’ and boppin’.

Vicki Baker

So, what do four guys from California, Iowa, and Texas, have in common with four guys from New Jersey? They’re part of an energetic tribute concert dedicated to the music of the Garden State’s very own “Jersey Boys”—Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. “Oh, What a Night” for Girls on Wheels (Shirley Monge, Susan Hebert, Karen Dipietro, Nancy Burns, and Vicki Baker) as we sat front and center at the Granbury Opera House for pure musical entertainment capturing the sounds of one of America’s most long-lived and successful vocal groups.

As the theater lights dimmed, the vocalists took the stage dancing in sync and crooning in rich four-part harmony. Dressed in blazers in a rainbow of colors, bright white shirts, black bow ties, and patent leather shoes, we were reminded of a time of early 60s innocence.

Transported back to the golden age of music, we experienced the very best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, with stops at every phase of the group’s career. Showcasing timeless classics which have been thrilling audiences for decades, the quartet danced and sang every single “ooh” and “aah” with gusto! The boys invited us to sing along whenever we recognized a familiar melody. The vocal harmonies, engaging personalities, and fully choreographed show kept us captivated from beginning to end.

This spectacular musical tribute featured amazing singers, loads of chart-topping hits, and a terrific live back-up band. We left with a smile on our face and a song in our heart. The dynamic songbook brought back such good memories which kept us singing all night long. With good memories, come good friends. Good friends are the joy in our lives; and great friends are the music.
