On April 10, the Material Girls, the Yarn Divas, the Sassy Stampers as well as the Busy Hands from Plano, helped Operation Shower with HEB corporate sponsorship, give a baby shower to military families. The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors also served as a supporting sponsor. For the third year, these Robson Ranch organizations provided handmade baby items and cards to moms-to-be and their significant other at the “Sunshine Farms” themed shower. This year 281 items (40 quilts, 40 receiving blankets, bibs and burp clothes etc.) were donated for the signature “Showers-in-a-Box”. Prospective mothers received a handmade baby card while their spouse received a card thanking them for their service. There are between 35-40 expectant moms at each shower. The shower was held in the Killeen Civic and Conference Center. All of the expectant moms were active duty service members or the spouses of deployed members of Fort Hood and area bases. Several games were played, raffles awarded, and lunch provided to ensure fun was had by all.

Founded in 2007, Operation Shower is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that recognizes and honors the unseen sacrifices of military families by producing and coordinating baby showers for expecting military personnel and their families. The baby showers provide expectant military families with high quality products for their babies while recognizing all that they do for our country. Since its inception, Operation Shower has showered more than 5,800 military moms from many branches of the military across the country.

It was a very heartwarming experience to participate in the shower and see first-hand how appreciative these military families are of receiving donated baby items and being recognized for their service.
