Painting Party (at home) with Shay

Angie Gay

You are never too old to learn something new. Just ask all the budding Picassos at our recent painting party with Shay. (Shay is one of the wonderful servers at the Wildhorse Grill.) The only painting experience most of us had was painting our living room walls! However, under the easy instructions of our teacher, Shay had all of us painting a beautiful picture of Texas Blue Bonnets at sunset (or was it sunrise? Doesn’t matter.)

While our paintings styles may lack a certain finesse, we all did better than we thought we would. The best part is that everyone had fun.

The evening started with dinner and drinks and the painting class started at 6:00 p.m. In just two short hours we were done painting. Shay brings everything you need – paint, easels, brushes, even smocks for everyone to wear.

If you don’t want to have a house party, Shay teaches a monthly class at the Wildhorse Grill; but it was a lot of fun to have a party at home. In fact, before everyone left for the evening, we were already picking out the picture we want to paint next!

Just one note of caution – be sure you don’t dip your paint brush into your margarita glass!
