The Robson Ranch Pickleball Club sponsors an academy for new and beginner players. The academy graduated it first class of 2016 in January with the degree of Bachelors of Pickleball. All graduates learned the rules of the game, basics strokes, scoring and basic strategy in four one-and-a-half hour classes. After graduating from the Academy, all the graduates felt confident to begin play both inside and join outdoor groups.

The skills clinics are one-time, one-and-a-half hour sessions designed to help improve areas of play that individuals identify. Most players are C rated or above. Participants identified areas that they wished to improve on. Drills were then designed to improve those areas. After an hour-and-a-half, all participants took away some new pearls from the professors. Play was elevated, and everyone appreciated the professors stepping forward and volunteering their time.

Professors for the January and February Academy and skills clinics were Dr. Mike Conley, Dr. Mel Lebard, Dr. Fred Thompson, Dr. Tom Burke, Dr. Pat Sabo and Dr. Mike Sabo, all honorary doctorates in Pickleball from Robson Ranch Pickleball University.
