Pickleball Club seeking host housing for tournament participants

Ken Quarfoot

The Robson Ranch Pickleball Club will be hosting an International Pickleball Tournament here at the Ranch on October 23-25, 2018. It will be an age/skill tournament for all players 60 or more years of age. Matches will be played at a range of skill levels within five-year age increments. We are expecting more than 445 entrants from 27 states, including Hawaii, as well as from Canada and Great Britain. This is a prestigious event and a milestone for our club as well as an opportunity to highlight the championship level of our great facility here at Robson Ranch.

With this large number of out of state participants, our club is looking for Robson residents with a casita or spare room who would like to host a guest player (or couple) during the tournament. All participants are at least 60 years old and the guests would not be allowed to include children or pets. Guests would be responsible for their transportation, and their meals. It could be the beginning of new friendships and grow into future travel opportunities for our residents.

Anyone interested in being a Robson host during the tournament should contact the Guest Host Committee at [email protected]. We will provide you with a sign-up sheet and will be able to answer any questions you may have. If you are not currently involved in pickleball, this would be a great opportunity to make new friends and find out what the excitement around pickleball is all about. During the tournament, all Robson residents are welcome to bring a camp chair and watch the tournaments for free. There will be men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles matches.

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America, with over 2.8 million players. Our Robson Ranch Club currently has a membership of 438 players. With our world class facilities and the ability to play indoors or outdoors almost every day of the year, pickleball is an important part of the organized athletic programs and social life at Robson Ranch.
