Pickleball players know how to party!

On January 30, the Robson Ranch Denton Pickleball Club celebrated all things Texas at the second annual It’s The Pickle Ball Ya’ll! Members channeled their inner cowboy sporting hats, boots and the ladies sparkled with their cowgirl bling. D.J. Bill Cody kept our boots scootin’ with dancing and fun games. There were lots of door prizes including lessons provided by Sherril Kerr and Ford Roberson. Our new sponsor, The Horny Toad Café, provided gift cards and coupons. Other prizes were representative of Texas: wines, chili fixins’, margarita kits and more! The Wildhorse Grill staff strutted their stuff, providing a wonderful Texas BBQ dinner and the usual great service.

Prizes for best cowgirl and best cowboy were awarded. Judges narrowed the field to three, and the crowd voted with cheers and applause. Best Cowgirl went to Lore Carr who not only had bling, but also had her pickleball paddle holstered at her side! John Humphries, our Best Cowboy, wowed the crowd with his long coat, bandana and pocket watch-very authentic!

The club would like to thank the Robson Ranch Women’s Golf Association and Kay Schorn for the loan of the fabulous table decorations. Thanks to all the volunteers and attendees who made the party possible. It was a great evening at the Ranch!

Traveling Tournament players win big in February

Our Team Robson Ranch tournament players again brought home lots of hardware from the Sooner State Games held in Oklahoma City, OK and the Atlantic South Regionals held in Naples, FL. The travel team had some new faces. Char and Fred Thompson, Barb and Bill Wise, Bob and Saundra Gaylord, Royce Rampy and Jimmy Burns joined our regular group of traveling competitors: Ford, Sherril, Irene and Bob. Twenty-three medals were won. Congrats to you all!
