Resident provides music for Lt. Governor and Senator’s gala

Russell Bafford

Rebecca Bafford, resident of Robson Ranch, was recently honored when she and her combo, Gen2Jazz, were invited to provide nearly three hours of musical entertainment for our State Senator Jane Nelson’s “Annual 40th Birthday Party” gala held at the Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound on October 4. Special guest speaker for the evening’s event was Texas Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, along with Senator Nelson, who also introduced her large extended family to the crowd of nearly 1,000.

Rebecca, who is a well-known concert and jazz-style pianist, shared the stage with several world-class musicians, including drummer Steve Barnes, UNT Jazz Department faculty, assisting in private drum set teaching and rhythm section coaching for the world renowned UNT Lab Band program; Herman Campbell, bassist, and director of the Dallas-based Nobles of Note Shriners Jazz Band and Ron Yates, saxophonist, who is a jazz band director and manager of the Dallas-based Diplomats of Swing. The group played a mixture of standards and love songs, ending with a half hour of dancing music to ’70s and ’80s Motown, blues and pop.
