Robson Ranch Softball Association news

With the end of the year coming to a close, there are still many activities within the softball organization. Some teams had their end-of-the-year party, manager’s dinner, umpire’s dinner, and organizing games to be played on the weekend. A separate committee has been established to find volunteers for two open positions on the board for next year.

The fall season Single Elimination Tournament and picnic was rained out and wasn’t rescheduled due to the drastic drop in temperatures. A final game was held on November 14 in the afternoon. Teams were picked from a list of about 28 people. It was a close game, and afterwards hotdogs were served. Thank you, Susan Johansson, for cooking in the chilly, windy afternoon. This game turned out to be such a fun time that the Board decided to continue the games during the winter if the temperature is at least 50 degrees and above.

With the end of the year approaching, two seats on the Board need to be filled, and a separate committee (Sally Hampton, Johnny Blecher and Dave McKie) will be calling people whom they feel would be qualified to serve. The remaining Board members are eager to begin working with the new ones beginning in January.

Richard Goodwin, manager of the Blue Sox, wrote the following about his team:

“The Blue Sox celebrated their 2015 perfect season at Rudy’s BBQ in Denton. Team members are Buddy Arnold, Stan Brein, Randy Brewer, Keith Daly, Debi DiPasquale, Jan Goodwin, Richard Goodwin, Dale Hill, Bruce Horefits, Jim Hupp, Pat Powers, Scott Wilson, Phil Wisner and Dan Lipperman. Team guests were Steve and Rebecca Targonski, Tom and Lee Burke, former manager Larry Studinski and his wife Phyllis and team member spouses.”

Richard mentioned the great fan support from team member families and other Robson residents with a very special thanks to Assistant Manager Ed Hoerner and his wife Ann. Ed was instrumental in communicating field positions, batting order and keeping team statistics including batting average, at bats, hits, runs, RBIs and batting efficiency. Ann was gracious in keeping the team scorebook each week. Richard mentioned the team success was a result of great defense and good hitting. He awarded each player with a perfect season game ball.
