Robson Ranch Texans bring home another title

Bob Laderach

This June our Robson Ranch Texans entered the 65 AA Texas State tournament held in Waxahachie as the defending champs. We are proud to say that the Texans conquered their opponents as well as the heat and came away with another title. Well done to Coach Paul Dorwaldt, MVP Ron Schwertner and the Robson Ranch Texans team as a whole.

Our Texans opened play on day one with two victories in three games, highlighted by an all 70 Robson Ranch infield in Game 3, a battle that the Texans won 25-13. All Tournament (Texas All State) honors went to our durable shortstop, Ken Cline, who was 9 for 14, batting .642; Pat Powers, batting 7 for 11; Johnny Blecher; outfielder Bob Laderach and pitcher Mick Calverly, who both hit 9 for 13, finishing with a .692 batting average. Tournament MVP, Ron Schwertner, hit 10 for 13, for a .769 average and used his reach to snag anything close to left center field.

Special thanks to Carolyn Thomas and ReMax Heritage for sponsoring our Robson Ranch Texans 65 AA team in 2018. Our 65 AA Robson Ranch Texans will play in the Midwest Championships in Rogers, Ark in July.
