The Happy Cowgirl

Our May program featured the cowgirl art of Donna Howell-Sickles. Donna spent many years doing research on the roles of women in the early days and how they have evolved over the years. She showed us many of her paintings and taught us the meaning and symbology behind them. She was inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum and the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Quite an accomplishment! Many of her paintings hang in the Tucson Museum of Fine Art while others belong to private and major corporate collections.

President Teresa Blackburn-Korn acknowledged all new members as well as first-time attendees. She played Conway Twitty’s rendition of Happy Birthday in honor of all our members with May birthdays. Our members were quite generous this month with donations of $1,273, food and miscellaneous items for the Denton County Food Center charity.
