After 15 months of not meeting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Robson Rovers RV Club gathered for their summer picnic and business meeting on June 14.

Our June BBQ dinner typically signifies the end of the first half of the year, with a small break over the summer, and meetings and activities renewing in September. However, due to the pandemic, this last meeting prior to the break was also our first! The BBQ dinner featured brisket, beans, and salads from our favorite 407 BBQ in Argyle. Members pitched in with desserts, salads, drinks, and sides, and a wonderful meal was had by all.

After dinner we held our business meeting. Introductions were made by everyone present. Our new club officers include Balaji Ramarao, president; John Rohde, treasurer; Buddy Smith, vice president; and Ray Davis, secretary. We welcomed three new families to the club, and 14 other members were in attendance.

Buddy Smith presented club finances in John Rohde’s absence, and Ray Davis spoke about upcoming meetings and a signup sheet for meeting nights hosts was circulated. Buddy then talked about a potential upcoming trip to see a rocket launch from Titusville, Fla., perhaps early next year. That trip may be combined with a tour of Civil War sites on the east coast.

The club will be holding its first group campout this fall at the Wanderlust RV Park and Cabins in Eureka Springs, Ark. The event will run from Oct. 24 through Oct. 31; however, you can join for as much or as little as you’d like. The event signup page is listed on GroupWorks.

For those who may be interested in our RV club, you are invited to join us at our next formal meeting, which will be on Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. at the home of Bali and Indhu Ramarao on Crestview Drive.

We’d like to wish everyone a great summer, with RV travel abounding. See you in September.
