After a week weather delay from March 14 to March 21, 25 hearty tennis players arrived for the Robson Ranch Tennis Club March Madness event. Most players were decked out in shirts from their alma mater or favorite college in the midst of the “Sweet 16” portion of March Madness. After drawing a playing card from the deck provided by Dan Skokan, the players learned when and where they would be playing. But who is the three of spades, five of diamonds, six of hearts? We all finally found the appropriate playing card partner and proceeded to play six rounds of tennis followed by snacks on the health club patio. It was a great event with beautiful weather. We even had some spectators. Some players requested an actual champion outcome for the mixers, so the board adopted the idea for future events.

The Tennis Club held its Cinco de Mayo Tennis Mixer on May 2, 2015 with 24 players participating and 34 people staying to dine on delicious chicken fajitas provided by the Wildhorse Grill. After six rounds of competitive tennis, the two females having won the most games and the two males having won the most games entered the final match. The ultimate winning team was Sandy DiVincenzo and Jerry Killingsworth taking home the cactus trophy. Second place went to Ellen Gilgore and Andrew DuBose.

Just concluding are the Spring Mixed Doubles and Doubles Leagues. Both leagues are expected to resume in the fall.
