This year’s officers of the Robson Ranch Tennis Club, Dianne Ace, president; Edward Barnett, vice-president; Don Skokan, treasurer and Linda Grandfield, secretary, met and planned the March Madness Tennis Mixer scheduled for 1:00 p.m. March 21, 2015. Since it’s during NCAA’s March Madness, we ask participants to show their colors by wearing a shirt from your alma mater or favorite university. The March event is open to all residents, club members and non-members alike. If you are not a member but intend to play, please email your information to [email protected]. After spending an afternoon of fellowship and social tennis, we are betting you will want to join us as a member. Spectators are encouraged!

Beginners, no matter what your skill level, you can find someone in our group with whom to play. We also set up tennis drills periodically for you to improve your game, and we have a ball machine to use for practice on your own. Sherril Kerr, a USPTA member and former high school tennis coach, offers private or group lessons and clinics for players of all levels. She can be contacted at 940-262-3416. Don’t own a racquet? Not to worry; many members have two or more racquets in their bag and are happy to loan you one.

A women’s doubles league will begin play on March 19. There will be a Wednesday night mixed doubles league where you will play with rotating partners so you do not need to find a partner. We have added two additional days of drop-in tennis on Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 p.m. When the Monday/Wednesday/Friday drop-in moves back to 9:00 a.m., we are considering keeping the Tuesday/Thursday event at 1:00 p.m. until summer to allow more time flexibility for everyone wanting to play. The daily drop-in tennis events are open to all Robson Ranch residents. You do not need to be a club member to drop in and play. Drop-in tennis is very casual. Players move around the court to all positions, and a new player rotates in after each game. It is very social and a great way to practice in a less competitive environment. Finally, on Tuesday and Thursday nights there is men’s doubles drop-in tennis, which starts at 6:00 p.m. It may be pretty difficult for inexperienced players to choose a solid mobile casino site.
