Darlene Lamb

Tuesday, February 20, brought good friends together at the home of Rick and Darlene Lamb. Wines from the Pacific Northwest region were the featured wines of the evening. Several good wines were tasted along with some tasty appetizers. The wine tasting results were as follows.

Third place winner was a 2014 Cali’s Cuvée Pinot Noir from Left Coast Cellars in Willamette Valley, Oregon brought by Frank and Nancy Fresheim. Named after the family’s left-handed daughter, Cali, this Pinot Noir is a versatile and food-friendly wine paring beautifully with anything from the grill.

Second place was a 2012 Walter Clore Private Reserve from Columbia Crest Winery in Washington State brought by Dan and Vicki Shoemaker, our newest members to join this fun group. The story goes that this red blend was dedicated to the lifelong work of Washington State’s pioneering viticultural researcher who shaped the Washington wine industry and is recognized as “The Father of Washington Wine.” Balanced flavors of dark fruit, blackberry and black cherry leads to hints of cocoa on the palate. This wine is powerful yet elegant.

And the winner was a 2015 Radius Red Blend brought by Mike and Sue Miloser. This wine is also grown in the famed wine country of Washington State with flavors and aromas of rich black fruit, ripe cherry and hints of toasted oak going into a long and tasty finish with lingering fruit bites. It goes well with a nicely grilled sirloin steak, sharp cheddar or dark chocolate.

See you next month! Cheers!
