The rain has finally departed, and on June 9 we were able to get on the course. Thirty-Five members signed up for a scramble with an extra caveat. A drawing at each tee box determined how the hole would be played. An example would be, “Take a par and go to the next hole,” “Tee off from the 150 markers unless this is a par 3,” or my favorite, “Add 50 yards to the best drive.”

While some caveats helped, others not so much!

Our low scoring winners were Linda Cobb, Deb Harwell, Deb Nortunen and Virginia Wheeless. The prize was a credit of $9 at the pro shop for each of them. Second place went to Bev Busick, Patti Dalzell, Gwen Heinen and Judy Ondina, all of whom got $5.30 in pro shop credit. Third place finishers, or what we call DAL, (dead … last) were Angie Gay, Shirley Green, Sandy Petty and Maureen Varnes. At least they covered their $2 entry and made an additional $1.80 profit.

On June 9, after the scramble, we had our second quarterly meeting. David from the pro shop informed us of the status on the pond on hole no. 9 as well as the two putting greens.

Maureen Varnes updated us on the 4th of July parade, and the enthusiastic drill team led by Darla Mahan is very excited to participate.

The Lady Niners now have 112 members and are growing. If you would like any information about our association, please contact Olive Morton at 262-0828. Our mission is to provide a stress-free environment for playing golf.
