The Robson Ranch After Schoolers recently learned that there was a dire need at one of the Denton ISD school campuses. Because the After Schoolers are always looking for opportunities to give back to our community, the members were eager to help remedy this problem.

The school in need was the LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex in Denton. This school is dedicated to providing the students of Denton County with an outstanding career and technical educational opportunity. There are 30 pathways designed to help students enter the work force and/or prepare them for their future education at college. The school has state-of-the-art equipment that provides unique educational preparation.

The problem was that many of the students did not have appropriate clothing for job interviews. Therefore, some students were being turned down for employment even though they had completed the required preparation for job readiness. One of the teachers at the school developed an innovative solution: the creation of a Professional Clothing Closet. The After Schoolers readily collected and donated gently used professional clothing to equip this closet with not only clothing but also shoes, purses, belts and jewelry. This closet is now well-equipped for the students to “shop” for appropriate clothing for their job interviews.

The After Schoolers members agreed that this was a gratifying experience to be a part of helping Denton County students achieve success!
