Fit for Life – January 2020

Carolyn Thomas

Total Body Strength and Fit For Life class participants rang in the new year with a continued commitment to muscular strength and endurance training, agility, stability, flexibility, and fall prevention in Bonnie Fickey’s Active Aging Group Fitness Classes here at the Ranch. Bonnie tells her participants “regardless of age, everyone can become stronger and improve their activities of daily living. Building life-long habits takes time but once you have built those habits into your daily schedule you will notice that missing them is irritating. Studies show it takes 21 days to create a habit.” Each of these classes is fun, safe, and effective with more benefits than risks, and is a habit you will love and take seriously.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “one in four Americans aged 65+ fall each year. Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults. Hire a personal trainer or attend fitness classes where the trainers/instructors are certified to strengthen the necessary muscles responsible for stability and are trained in fall prevention/recovery and stability drills.”

Total Body Strength: Tues/Thurs/Sat 6:45 a.m.; Wed 8 a.m.; Fri 9 a.m.

Fit For Life: Tues/Thurs 9 a.m.; Sat 10 a.m.
