Carrell Ann Simmons receives the 2016 Brock Community Service Award.

Carrell Ann Simmons is the 2016 Brock Community Service Award recipient, which is presented to a non-Rotarian for exemplary community service by the Denton Rotary Club.

This award concept was initiated seven years ago by Mark Burroughs and the Community Service Committee of the Denton Rotary Club. Horace and Euline Brock were the honorees in that inaugural year as the program namesake. Past honorees have been Martha Len Nelson, Joe and Betty Roy, Virgil Strange, Darrell Bulls, and Bette and Bob Sherman. Nominations for the annual award are received from Denton Rotary Club members. The club president, immediate past president, and president elect select the final honoree, and their selection is ratified by the Rotary Board. The award is a distinctive etched crystal plate.
