On a recent damp March evening, the LOLs (Ladies of Laughter, Ladies of Life, etc.) gathered at the home of Peggy Crandell for a fondue party. She greeted each of us with her warm smile and Easter decorations already in place. We anxiously awaited as we could see the table all set up for several fondue pots and fondue forks awaiting us. The first course was the most creamy, stringy cheese with an assortment of veggies and bread. Laughter was rampant as everyone was challenged to get the cheese into their mouth and not on their clothes or face. What a sacrifice for such a divine beginning of fondues.

The next course provided an assortment of meats including beef tenderloin, pork meatballs and chicken. The aromas as we cooked these were delectable; all offered with a variety of seasonings and sauces. Even Peggy’s dog, Nellie, was hoping for a bite. And then the pièce de résistance: chocolate fondue for dessert along with fruits, angel food cake and marshmallows. If you are not salivating by now something must be wrong with your taste buds!

A few bottles of wine were consumed along with the luscious fondues. Friendships seem to be more precious when shared on such a delightful evening. We all await Peggy’s next creative adventure.
