Hear ye, Hear ye

A grand event took place on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. The Wildhorse Lady Niners held its 2016 Princess Tournament. Twelve lovely maidens participated in the tournament. The rest of the kingdom followed along and cheered the crown-seeking women.

No one was eliminated on the first two holes. This year each player had her own caddie who could strategize and give advice. Prince Paul escorted each player to the first tee and gave her a hand kiss, hug or high five.

Royal Decree matched the potential princesses with their royal footman as follow: Sharon Dinsmore and Juris Klovans, Phyllis Formhals and Tom Prohaska, Jan Angus and Gary Pniewski, Deb Harwell and Doyle Hicks, Darla Mahan and David McKie, Barb Holst and Rich McDuffie, Moe Fitzgerald and Larry Varnes, Mary Ornberg and John Thompson, Carolyn Thomas and Bob Hoffenberg, CJ Palecek and Dan Nicolet, Sandy Petty and Wayne Ballard and Angie Gay and Randy Brewer.

The 18th hole had some excitement as the crowds formed to watch Jan Angus and Barb Holst duel for the crown. When the dust settled Barb Holst raised her arms in victory, and the crowd cheered. Everyone escorted the new princess to the Grill for lunch and her coronation by the reigning Princess, Sharon Dinsmore.

Money was raised for the Denton Animal Shelter by having a special beverage service cart hosted by Jane Thompson and Sue Halstead with assistance by Jamie Siefert, Nancy Wendt and Mary Lee Garbowski. We also had a 50/50 raffle with all donations going to the shelter. Other volunteers included the scorekeepers of Olive Morton and Mary Van Sant. The busy stroke keepers included Paula Saunders, Kay McKie, Cel Muff, Linda Brewer, Shirley Green, Linda Kurita, Judy McDuffie, Doris Belew, Teresa Blackburn-Korn, Bev Busick, Karen Skokan and Carol Cooley.

This event could not have happened without the special efforts of Tina Hoffenberg and Carolyn Thomas. They continue to be our master event planners. Thank you all!
