The second HOA Trivia Night for 2015 was another big success. We had 20 playing teams and two spectator teams; all those who attended had a great time. Teams had eight members, which either helped or hindered with getting the answers. It’s always best to go with your gut, but some teams would talk themselves out of the right answer. We have several returning teams each time, but a lot of new teams that really jumped into the competition. As a bonus Philip Leibham from Farmers Insurance in Flower Mound sponsored the event. Philip treated the attendees with cookies and door prizes to restaurants and shopping establishments like Kohl’s and Target.

Althea Parent was the MC for the night and Philip was her assistant, who helped by music person extraordinaire being the timekeeper and music extraordinaire. New music was added to the Althea’s tablet by her husband who knows the kind of music Robson Ranch likes to hear; a little dancing went on between questions.

We played six rounds, which were made up of three questions each, and teams would bet points on their answers. The halftime question had four answers, and teams received one point for each correct answer. The final question was worth 20 points, and teams could bet a minimum of one point or all 20 points. It was a tough one but one team got the answers correct, and they won first place after being behind during the evening!

The categories vary, but here are a few of the questions from the May Trivia. Answers are at the bottom.

1. Geography: What U.S. State’s highest peak is Mt. Elbert?

2. Manufacturer: Charles Metz manufactured Orient Bicycles. In 1901 he started making what?

3. State Flags: This is mentioned in the motto on Minnesota’s flag and is depicted on Alaska’s Flag.

4. Halftime question: Name the U.S. state capitals that are named after U.S. Presidents, city and state.

Thank you, Whitney, for all your time spent behind the bar making those cocktails.

Eight teams members working together as one; no use of cell phones; no call a friend! With each of the Trivia nights there is a bit more of Robson Ranch competition going on, which is fun to observe.

Congratulations to the winning teams! Each of the winning team members received Wildhorse Grill gift certificates.

Winners: Sprigs 71 points, Pentagoners 56 points, Village Idiots 53 points.

Mark your calendars for the next 2015 Trivia Night, which will be Friday, August 7, from 7:00-9:30 p.m.

Take in dinner at the Grill, and then come ready to play!
