What do you get when the Kiwanis Club and RR Softball All Stars team up? An exciting day of on-the-edge-of-your-seat softball and raising money for local charities during National Give Local week.

The RR Softball All Stars will battle it out with the UNT football team in a game of slow pitch softball on Saturday, May 7, between 9:30 a.m. and noon at our own “Field of Dreams” at Robson Ranch. Catch some fun at this free event filled with plenty of excitement and all for a good cause.

While the play-by-play action is being announced, enjoy that traditional ballpark fare served hot and right off the grill by the Kiwanis Club. What better deal than a hot dog, chips and drink for $5. And don’t forget to purchase those raffle tickets for $1 each for your chance to win some fabulous prizes donated by the Wildhorse Golf Club. Proceeds and donor dollars raised make a change in our community by benefitting the Rainbow Room (provides new clothing and hygiene items to children entering foster care and children in their own homes living below the poverty line), Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home (protects abandoned and neglected children and teens through its residential program) and Davis Alternate School (provides school uniforms for students).

So score a home run and mark your calendars for May 7; cheer on your home team, grab a hot dog (or two or three) and support those organizations that work tirelessly to keep our Denton community vital and strong. Want to step up to the plate and serve your community in another way? Come visit the Kiwanis Club the first and third Fridays of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse.
