Ladies’ Bible Study group Christmas project

Nancy Thomas

For the 12th year the Ladies’ Bible Study group has filled stockings for underprivileged children in East Dallas. These children are in the After School Ministry of Dorothy Moore’s Reconciliation Outreach Ministry. We became involved with this group while Dorothy and husband Bob lived at Robson before moving nearer the ministry.

We bought items to fill the stockings for 68 children, ages 5 to 11. Thank you to all that donated! The Material Girls donated the beautiful handmade stockings; thank you! My dentist, Dr. Ted Dunson of Southridge Dental in Denton, gave us age-appropriate toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss; thank you! Dr. Elizabeth Vaughan donated beanie bags; thank you!

The children love giving their parents gifts but cannot afford anything. This year we gave them clear plastic ornaments which they filled with ribbon and tinsel. They wrote their names and Christmas 2017 with paint markers. Each one was very uniquely done.

On Wednesday, December 13, eight ladies (Nancy Nevius, Karen Wesselman, Theresa Peoples, Phyllis Formhals, Kathy Bailey, Becca Shoff, Betty Small and Dee Ann Baker)ww helped me stuff the stockings. Then on Friday the 15th Donna Chabot, Theresa and Bill Peoples, Helen Reed, Becca Shoff, Dee Ann Baker, Kathy Bailey, Nancy Nevius and I went to the Ministry for the Children’s Christmas Party. We handed out the stockings and helped the children wrap their gifts for their parents. It was a very special time with these precious children!
