Medicare made easy

Marie Milleage

Medicare from A to G was explained by Jackie Hixson, resident and Medicare specialist. Seminar information gave attendees a clarification of distinction among Medicare A, B, C, D, F and G categories.

Important details included making informed Medicare choices, 2016 changes in Medicare coverage and Advantage or Supplemental plans. When asked about out-of-pocket costs, Jackie recommended making a comparison among these plans, evaluating “brand” name and “generic” drugs and talking with one’s physician to determine suitability of each medication.

Important things to consider: What Medicare coverage do you need? Do you want or need supplemental coverage, and will it work with Medicare? How much will the coverage cost and are there co-pays? Which doctors, specialists and medical facilities accept your chosen coverage?

Jackie advised that it is very important to make the best choices when you are eligible for Medicare. Have a full understanding of the available options as it may be impossible to change plans later.
