Spring Fever?

Mike Futscher

Are the drab cold windy days making you long for some outdoor fun? Why not enjoy the outdoors for a couple hours each week? Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1 p.m., (weather permitting) a group meets to throw horseshoes. The courts are located near the Dog Park off of Michelle Way. No reservations, dues, or commitments are required, just show up ready to enjoy a few laughs. No matter your skill level, you will have fun and want to come back. Horseshoes are provided and teams are divided up so everyone plays as many games as they wish.

Over the last year, many new residents have joined the gathering with women sometimes outnumbering the men. Various days are planned for “Ringer Days” or “Woody Days” as well as a handicap tournament during the summer/fall. 2020 had the highest number of participants and we are looking to set a new record in 2021. Most throwers wear masks and practice social distancing. Don’t be surprised if you see or hear the Jim Fox trot or the Martha Gills yell when a ringer or double ringer is thrown. Hope to see new faces in 2021.
