It was a muddy day when the Denton WGA came to town for their opening day. Several of the Wildhorse Lady Niners and the Robson Ranch WGA have joined this awesome group. We played an 18 hole scramble. Much like a horse race there was no way to handicap this one with all the mud and wet that we played on. But the camaraderie with these women was just too much fun to miss. We could purchase mulligans and/or drop our second shot at the 150 pole if we had not reached it by that point. The wonderful part of this is our purchase money went to the Denton Community Health Clinic, a non-profit group where their mission is “to provide affordable, comprehensive, quality care to all, regardless of ability to pay.” We raised $2,200 that day. We also had an anonymous benefactor that day that paid for every one of our green fees. I must admit that since I didn’t have to pay for my green fees, I was able to buy many more mulligans. It didn’t help though.
This group has been in existence since the late 80s. They play a scramble once a month with the focus being on fun, food and charity. If you are looking for more information, you can contact Jo Lucas at [email protected].
