Over 160 Happy Trotters took to the streets of Robson Ranch on a cool but sunny Thanksgiving Day. But before there was any walking/running the 3.1 miles, the crowd was put through a pre-trotting warm-up consisting of dancing the famous Chicken Dance as they watched the clock tick away the minutes until starting time.
Once on the streets, participants consisting of residents, kids, grandkids and even a few great grandkids ran or walked while some got a bird’s eye view from a good seat in a stroller. There was even a rumor that a giant size turkey was walking among the 5K participants.
As the first of the participants crossed the finish line, there was hot chocolate and cookies to welcome them. Many thanks to Rhett, Jeremy and the Grill for providing this warm treat.
This was the second 5K Walk/Run the Living Well Committee has presented to the residents of Robson Ranch this year, and it was even more of a success than the Fire Cracker 5K, which was held on the 4th of July.
A special thanks to Linda Overfield, Fred Thompson, Fred van Naerssen and Susan Hebert who worked hard to ensure that everyone had a great time.
Keep those running shoes out because before you know it July will be here again.
