Have you seen the Tai Chi class in the gym and wondered what those people are doing and why? Simple! They are engaging mind and body, improving flexibility and balance and reducing stress levels, all while getting a physical workout. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that today is practiced as a graceful form of exercise, which incorporates a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner accompanied by deep breathing. It is a self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching, with each posture flowing into the next without pause, ensuring that the body is in constant motion. And your doctor likes it!
In addition to the current class that meets in the gym every Tuesday and Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m., a beginner’s class will open this summer. Experienced class members will be teaching the various forms and working individually with beginners. As with the current class, there is no charge for the sessions.
If you are interested in participating in this group or if you have questions about either class, please contact Adele Stewart, [email protected] or 262-3364 for more information.
