In celebration of Men’s Health Month, Living Well at Robson Ranch presents “For Your Eyes Only” on Wednesday, June 17, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the clubhouse.
In 1994 Congress passed and President Clinton signed into law Men’s Health Month to bring awareness of the prevention and treatment of critical medical conditions faced by men. The celebration was intended to end on Father’s Day, but some groups continue to hold programs until the end of the month.
The top causes of death for men of all ages are heart disease, cancer, and accidents reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The American Heart Association and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) inform that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men in the United States. The American Cancer Society and the CDC report that cancer is the second leading cause of death for men.
Held during Men’s Health Week, June 15 through June 21, the Living Well program is a first step in helping men become more aware of achieving and maintaining good health. The “For Your Eyes Only” Health Seminar offers a unique invitation for “men only” as a health-related challenge designed to help men live longer and healthier lives. Although women are not invited to attend because the presentation covers sensitive subject matter and promotes free and open dialogue, literature is available for men to take home to their wives.
Speakers Dr. Daniel Caldwell and Dr. Michael Spivey will provide men with an opportunity to understand the importance of seeking medical advice, early detection, treatment options, follow-up, new developments in medicine and other relevant topics. Participants are encouraged to ask questions.
