The clock had barely struck 6:30 p.m., and the dance floor had couples moving to the beat of a beautiful waltz. The band began at 7 p.m., and there was never a time when the floor was empty. What do you call a group of 200-plus Robson residents dancing? You call that a party!
Deep in the Heart of Texas did a great job keeping the party moving! When was the last time you saw someone playing the “squeezebox,” aka accordion? They played a good variety of music that you could move to.
There seems to be no shortage of people having their pictures made at the awesome photo spot, thanks to Anne Jones and Marilyn Melo. The tables were decked out with bandanas and cute decor to carry out the theme of the night.
We had a short business meeting, which was followed by everyone’s favorite, door prizes! The door prizes were sponsored by Nothing Bundt Cake (a 10-inch Chocoholic’s fix and two Triple Bundtlet Towers), Henry Evans donated one month of free dance lessons, our own Wally Saqui donated one full body massage, 407 BBQ gave us a $25 gift card, and 1845 Taste Texas Steakhouse rounded out the prizes with a $50 gift card. Winners were Alice Wright, Donna Rother, Pete Jenks, Jamie Baggett, Dianna Duncan, and Kathy Kamp.
Next year is going to be a fantastic year. We start the dance season off on Saturday, Jan. 21, with Special Edition. If you missed them earlier this year, mark your calendar now. This dance will probably sell out the first day. They are that good. Be ready to be dazzled as our ballroom is transformed into a Winter Wonderland.
Reminder, the first dance will be the time to renew your membership. There will be no increase in membership ($5), and dances will remain $15 for members and $20 for non-members and guests.
