The Robson Ranch Tennis Club met for their Breakfast at Wimbledon tennis mixer on June 20. Twenty hearty players turned out for the event in the warm North Texas weather. Twenty players meant that there were no byes during the six rounds of play, so all players were on the court for the entire time, and most players agreed that six rounds was about the limit of our endurance. Andrew DuBose was the winning male player and Marti Harnly was the prevailing female player. Congratulations to them both. After play, the group adjourned to the patio for a little socializing and traditional strawberries and cream, the official snack of Wimbledon. Plans are being made for two more mixers in the fall including an Octoberfest event.
The Tennis Club continues to offer non-gender specific drop-in doubles play at 8:00 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and non-gender specific doubles play at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Extra racquets are generally available. You rotate in and play as little or as much as you like and can come and go at any time. Singles play is available at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and men’s doubles is available at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Regardless of your skill level or experience you will find a welcoming group of players and a great social atmosphere on the courts so stop by anytime and get to know this merry group of players. You do not need to be a member of the Tennis Club to participate in the drop-in play sessions. Just show up and play.
The Tennis Club is made up of 81 enthusiastic players of all skill levels. If you would like to join the group, club dues are a mere $10/year. Membership includes participation in at least six organized events per year along with our annual holiday party.
