For the eighth year in a row, Mike and Marguerite Richardson welcomed neighbors to their back yard to celebrate our country and democracy. This year five people presented quotations, some of which follow:
“Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.” Dwight D. Eisenhower
“Blessed are the young, for they shall inherit the national debt.” Herbert Hoover
“No man is good enough to govern another man without that other’s consent.” Abraham Lincoln
“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding what to have for dinner. Liberty is a well-armed lamb.” Unknown, but often attributed to Benjamin Franklin
As usual, everyone enjoyed both food for nourishment and the food for thought.
