Motorcycle Club: New Mexico and Other Enchantments

In the Sangre de Cristo Mountains

Stan Brein

When Robson Ranch Motorcycle Club members look at their watches this time of year, it reads “Angel Fire.” July, one of the two hottest months of the year, has folks packing their rides and heading for the mountains of Northern New Mexico. This year’s journey was captained by Ron Bane, with Mike Conley, Jeana and Jeff Stieber, Joy and Larry Denk, Keith Breiner, Steve Collins, Carrylyn Jacobs, and Scott Loftis participating in the fun. How could you go wrong with an itinerary of the Texas Air & Space Museum in Amarillo, swimming at the Holiday Inn after a day of riding, great eats, unparalleled day rides, pickleball, hikes, and a visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire. Get with one of these folks to see the absolutely gorgeous photos! And a big thank you to Donna and Steve Williams for their graciousness and hospitality.

The annual July 3 Motorcycle Decorating Party was the usual great combination of fun, fellowship, and food. Thanks again to Vicki and Scott Baker for hosting all of us! This prepared the club to be well represented at the Robson Ranch 4th of July Parade, with 10 bikes gliding down Ed Robson Blvd. Good times with good folks!

There was still sufficient energy for folks to regroup on July 10 for a Breakfast Ride to Annie’s Country Kitchen in Springtown. Thank you, Ride Captain Jeff Stieber.

We extend a hardy welcome to the folks who have recently joined the club: Carrie and Brent Bunce, Deana Marshall and Dave Ferneding, and Christa and Walter Prim. All of us are looking forward to traveling together on the many great roads and adventures ahead of us!

On the horizon: Scott Baker will arrange and lead a Breakfast Ride on Tuesday, Sept. 10. This will lead us up to the final long trip of 2024. And what a great journey it will be to the Great Smoky Mountains. The route will be three days out, four days in North Carolina, and three days back. Just some of the great rides will be the Natchez Trace Parkway, Cherohala Skyway, Tail of the Dragon, and Great Smoky Mountain Park. This is going to be one great outing!

Joyce and I have cleaned out a corner of our den to start stockpiling coats for the Coats for Kids ride coming up in November. Back to school is a great time to catch a bargain on a new coat. Any club member will gladly accept your kind donation.

See you on the road!

Beware of cagers, and keep the rubber side down!
