On a lovely summer evening, 35 Road Runners boarded a motor coach and headed to historic Grapevine for an evening filled with wine, dinner, a live stage show and lots of fun with our neighbors and friends. Our bus was filled with conversation and laughter as we made our way to Grapevine.
Wine tasting was first on our agenda at one of Grapevine’s newest wineries, Sloan and Williams. We all agreed the wines we tasted were excellent, and the information shared with us by the passionate and award-winning proprietors was not only enlightening, but also laced with humor and experience about how they started their wine making business.
Cross Timbers Winery, a lovely setting for a party, was our next destination for dinner and a sampling of their wines. We had our own private venue where we all enjoyed eating, drinking more wine and mixing and mingling with our fellow Road Runners.
With our stomachs full of wonderful barbecue and after imbibing in a fair amount of wine, we were off to the historic Palace Theatre for the Grapevine Opry’s performance Country Songs of Summer. We thoroughly enjoyed the show, which was filled with a variety of music performed by many local talented singers and artists.
Our motor coach was much quieter as we made our way back to the Ranch as we were all winding down the evening. It truly was a very delightful “evening out on the town.”
