In getting ready for two October Friends of the Library events, you need to set aside Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Friends of the Library will be having our end of the season final book talk. The book talk is free and open to all Robson Ranch residents. The book being covered is a New York Times bestseller, Ordinary Grace, by William Kent Krueger. This book sounds like an excellent read about events that took place in small town New Bremen, Minn., in the Summer of 1961. It is presented through the perspective of a 13-year-old boy 40 years after that summer. It weaves in tragedy, conflicts, adultery, adult secrets, lies, the terrible price of wisdom, and the everlasting grace of God. The book talk is a great way for Robson Ranch residents to meet and connect with people who share similar interests. Hope to see you all there!

The second event is Friends of the Library’s first fundraiser, Boo in the Books. This promises to be lots of fun. Halloween originates from the Irish End of Harvest Season (Samhain).

This Boo in the Books event allows all Robson Ranch residents to get in touch with our creative side and to use your imagination to create a Halloween costume of your favorite book character. There will be an opportunity to buy tickets (as many as you want) to vote for your favorite costume. There will also be a chance for you to have a photo op and get a lasting photo of that awesome costume in our photo booth. There will be a cake walk for all to enter. This is a chance to taste several yummy treats and drink our special sparkling orange sherbet punch. The Boo in the Books event sounds like a “Spooktacular” evening for all and a chance for everyone to help support our library. All proceeds from Boo in the Books will go towards our Robson Ranch Library operating expenses. See you there!
