Twenty for Tea

A lovely afternoon tea at the historic Bayless-Selby House

Celia Hall

On Sept. 12, 20 of the Rockin’ Red Ranchers gathered at the Bayless-Selby House Museum in Denton for a delightful afternoon tea. Several of the ladies wore hats, ranging from wide-brimmed summer styles to fascinators adorned with feathers and lace. The house, a Queen Anne-style home built in 1898, set the perfect scene for this refined gathering. The ladies marveled at the home’s charming architecture and décor as they drank tea and sampled an array of delicate pastries and finger sandwiches.

Hostess Peggy Capps warmly welcomed everyone, sharing the rich history of the tea party tradition. She also recounted the journey of the Bayless-Selby House, describing how it came into the care of the local historical society, ensuring its preservation for generations to come.

The afternoon was organized by Mala Bowdouris, Marianne DiLiberto, Kasey Miller, and Lynne Moore, who not only planned the outing but graciously served the guests, making the event one to remember.
