County Commissioner Dianne Edmondson
As we’ve all been told, Denton County is in a growth surge. We’re now over a million residents, and more are still coming! Because of our great location, low taxes, multiple higher education facilities, good jobs, and enjoyable amenities, our county is truly blessed and, at the same time, challenged!
As your County Commissioner, I am responsible for the county roads and bridges, not city or state or federal ones. And my commissioner Precinct 4 has nearly half the county roads within Denton County. So, the repair and replacement of county roads is a daunting task, and we have a very competent road and bridge crew who cover the county to maintain these important connectors—county roads. Additionally, the County Transportation Department partners with both cities and the Texas Department of Transportation (TXdot) to maintain even more public roadways. Thanks to the bond issue, which was widely accepted by the voters in 2023, we are beginning many new projects and completing others throughout our county. And these projects will continue to be implemented over the next several years.
Some of these projects will, unfortunately, create some annoying traffic jams and necessitate many of us finding alternative routes to work, school, shopping, etc., but the end result—though it’s still years away—will definitely be worth the headaches.
As we have done in the past, thanks to the HOA, on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m., we will be presenting an overview of all the upcoming road work here in Precinct 4 to the Robson Ranch community. This presentation is being finalized now and will include a TXdot representative as well as the county’s transportation consultant. We hope to see everyone there who wants to learn when and where roadwork will be done. It will be a most informative evening!
