Happy Tails Dog Club Celebrates with Annual Holiday Party

The Happy Tails Dog Club hosted its annual holiday party on Dec. 14, and it was a celebration to remember. Despite a rainy morning, the skies cleared just in time, bathing the event in sunshine and setting the tone for a joyful afternoon.

Held at the home of Lorraine Wilson, the party welcomed nearly 40 members who arrived laden with gifts for the much-anticipated white dog gift exchange and delectable dishes for the potluck. The screened-in porch provided a cozy and festive space for attendees to gather, reconnect, and enjoy the holiday spirit.

The potluck was a highlight of the afternoon, featuring an impressive variety of dishes. Guests indulged in trays of meats and cheeses, chicken puffs, cream cheese pinwheels, sandwiches, egg casserole, hash brown casserole, chips, and an array of homemade sweets. With so many culinary options, there was something to satisfy every palate.

The white dog gift exchange brought plenty of laughs and excitement. Liz Katz kicked off the exchange as the first picker and, in a twist of tradition, also had the final pick. Char Niemi earned the distinction of being the most “stolen from,” though Sandy McAfee wasn’t far behind. Both ultimately walked away with delightful gifts. A beautifully designed dog-themed doormat emerged as the top choice of the exchange, continuing its streak as a sought-after treasure.

Each attendee left with a goodie bag provided by the club, which included a special dog toy. Reports are already coming in that the toys have become favorites among many members’ furry companions.

The Happy Tails Dog Club has a busy schedule lined up for the new year. On Jan. 13 Dr. Blake Rochell of Northlake Pet Hospital will present a session addressing members’ questions and concerns. Known for his expertise and friendly demeanor, Dr. Rochell’s presentation promises to be both engaging and informative.

In addition, the club is gearing up for a special fundraiser on March 1, in partnership with the Jolly Ranchers band. This event will support a local animal rescue group and coincide with the club’s early annual pet food drive. Details will be announced soon, but members are encouraged to mark their calendars now for what is sure to be a sell-out event.

April will bring a spring photo event, featuring a garden backdrop bursting with seasonal blooms—a perfect setting for capturing cherished memories with furry friends. Sign-ups will be sent out, so you will get your own private photography session.

Happy Tails Dog Club meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in Room 103 of the CATC building. Membership is open to all dog enthusiasts, with annual dues set at $10 per household. For more information, visit the club’s website at www.rrhappytailsdogclub.weebly.com.
