During their Oct. 2 meeting, Co-President David Holmes welcomed 32 members and friends of the Robson Ranch Democratic Club, including two candidates for the RR HOA Board. HOA candidates Dave Parker and Jay Vanderbree presented their backgrounds and expressed their desire to serve the Greater Robson Ranch community. Although all candidates were welcome, some were not able to attend due to scheduling conflicts.

Holmes then introduced speaker Sandy Swan, a progressive advocate for social justice and president of the Democratic Women of Denton County. Ms. Swan has been involved with all aspects of elections and political campaigns over many years. She is a former candidate for elective office. During her presentation, she shared insight into the 17 propositions for amendments to the Texas State Constitution. Texas voted on those issues on the Nov. 4 ballot.

Patti Kelly, social chairperson, urged members to attend the TGIF social events scheduled periodically at the Robson Ranch Wildhorse Grill. She told everyone attending about the importance of raising the visibility and boosting the outreach of the RR Democratic Club. A recent, early-fall event drew approximately 40 people, with another event planned for Nov. 6. Five social events are scheduled in 2026, with dates and locations to be publicized over the coming months.

Ms. Kelly also reminded members about the Holiday Party, scheduled at 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Salerno’s Italian Restaurant in Highland Village. Tickets are $45 each and can be purchased online.

The Robson Ranch Democratic Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Robson Ranch clubhouse, except during the months of May, June, July, and December (months when social and holiday events are scheduled). Beginning in 2026, gatherings will start at 5:30 p.m. for a social hour, followed by the 6 p.m. program/business meeting. To learn more about the club, visit the website at rrdemocraticclub.com.
