“Cruising through the Texas Hill Country last weekend with the Robson Ranch Motorcycle Club was exactly the kind of ride you hope for. The weather couldn’t have been better, with clear blue skies, a warm sun overhead, and just enough breeze to keep things comfortable as we rolled through the twisting backroads. Between the fields of wildflowers, the sweeping limestone hills, and the steady rumble of the group around me, every mile felt like a reminder of why we ride. The crew kept the pace easy and the stops fun, trading stories at little gas stations and overlooks while soaking up that perfect spring air.”

May 2 to 5 delivered what has become our club’s Rite of Spring: The Hill Country Ride. It’s announced on our calendar as “back by popular demand.” Ron Bane, Marti and Mike Conley, Scott Loftis, Carrylyn Jacobs, Jeff Stieber, Nahla Lorenzi, Tony Thomas, Alan Young, Scott Baker, Debbie and Jerry Hinson, Debbie and Keenan Wallace, Donna and Steve Williams and Nancy and Robert Whipple embarked on a road trip that embodies the beauty and flavor of the Lone Star State.
The destination was an Airbnb Inn in Ingram, Texas on the Guadalupe River. The amenities were just amazing. There was an outdoor and indoor pickleball court, hot tub, creek beach area with tables, gym area, dodgeball, laser tag, trampoline, grill, smoker, pizza oven, ping pong, kayaking, corn hole, fishing, and more. As an added bonus, this brings us close to some great Texas Hill Country Riding. In particular, riders covet the Twisted Sisters: TX 335, TX 336 and TX 337. This 100-mile loop is, without a doubt, among the best, most challenging motorcycle roads in the state. The route follows canyons and climbs jagged, steep hills; the roads offer many tight, twisty curves with shear drop offs alongside and not much in the way of guardrails. In one 15-mile section, there are approximately 65 curves!
Immense thanks to Ron Bane for being the engine that makes this trip a reality for the club.
An Independence Day Parade without motorcycles? Unfortunately, yes. The club will not officially participate in the event this year as most of the club members will be out enjoying our freedom to ride. Quite the irony! Oh well.
The march into summer continues with the June 9 breakfast ride to the Preston Farm Trail Café in Gunter, led by Ride Captain Robert Whipple. The July breakfast ride will go west, to the Whistle Stop Café in Decatur. Jeff Stieber will lead us on this journey.
Remember to stay hydrated! See you on the road!
Beware of cagers and keep the rubber side down.
