A Lucky Class Learning Acrylic Painting with Carolyn Buchmann

Rosie Bouse

On St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 18 members of the Paint & Palette Club had the “luck” of being participants in Carolyn Buchmann’s Acrylic Paint class. During this class, we were introduced to the basics of blending primary colors to create a variety of shades and just doodle for fun. The following week, Carolyn took us a step further as we painted on canvas. Interesting shapes and designs were produced during the preliminary class but, most of all, we just had fun experimenting with acrylics.

One of the advantages of being a Paint & Palette Club member is that all classes presented during the year are complimentary to members.

As members, we also have the opportunity to display our artwork in the window in the CATC building. These displays are changed seasonally. Periodically, the club hosts an exhibit at the clubhouse for nearly a week, with the opportunity to meet the artists and chat on Saturday evening. The next exhibit will be May 19-25, and the theme is Kaleidoscope of Nature. An open house will be held on May 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. to chat with artists, and there will be a cash bar.

The Indian Paintbrush Room 103 in the CATC building is open for use on Mondays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. For those who need mentoring, there are seasoned members who are very helpful in giving advice. Stop by to meet some artists at work, and ask questions if you have an interest in joining the club. Membership fees for one year are $10. You may discover there is an artist within waiting to be unleashed! Some folks have confided that they don’t believe they’d be good at art. I counter by saying, “But it would be good for you!”
